Brian's
Introduction

Partnerships in business are not much different
to a marriage in your personal life. All
relationships have dynamics and challenges. The
key to successful partnerships is common vision
and open communication.
If you and your partner/s have different visions
for your company, this could destroy your
partnership. You need to workshop this issue and
try and find common ground. If this is not being
resolved, then you need to establish a fair exit
strategy and move on.
If a partner is not doing what he or she is
supposed to do, again, you need to address this
and try to resolve it. Communicate without
aggression towards this - people tend to be
reactive, and if they feel threatened they could
well respond in a way you don’t want to deal
with.
The bottom line is to master the art of
communication and not compound the problem by
what you say or do. Anthony Robbins, the world
renowned motivation guru, says communication is
about the result, not the intention. Just like
in a personal relationship where you may address
an issue only to have it explode in your face,
you need to understand the dynamics of business
relationships and the role of effective
communication in your partnerships.
The bottom line is that partners should have
clear expectations of each other’s roles, and
should keep communication open at all times.
Write things down and make sure all parties
agree. If an issue arises address it
immediately, or it may grow into an irresolvable
scenario.
